How we work in our hatcheries

The operation in our hatcheries follows the motto “Bright new life”. Every week, thousands of vital and healthy day-old chicks leave the hatcheries. The hatching eggs come from our selected breeders and are subjected to a careful selection based on weight. This concept allows us to obtain beautiful, uniform, viable and healthy chicks – both in large and small numbers.

Together with their employees, our breeding specialists create an optimal process in which hygiene, safety, sustainability, animal welfare and health play an important role. Every year, millions of chicks from the hatcheries in Bábolna, Afferden or Arendonk reach the rearing facilities and then arrive in good health at 17 weeks to the layer farms.

We apply the highest standards of hygiene in the hatcheries. This means that we work to strict working protocols in which hygiene, disinfection and examination play a key role.
The hatchery is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment with animal welfare and health in mind.

The hatchery uses an electronic tracking system, which means that all information and all specifications are recorded and available to the customer up to the moment of arrival at the farm.
The transport of chicks to the rearing facility or to the airport is carried out under climate-controlled conditions. The microclimate is closely monitored using sensors. This way, we ensure that our chicks reach our customers healthy and that this is done in a responsible and animal-friendly manner.”
